Teaching methods

Frontal lessons and practices or PBL exercises individual or in team.

Assessment methods

The final exam foresees the achievement of the didactic objectives of both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

The practical part involves the elaboration of a written test, starting from a research question elaborated during the lessons, with clarification of the following steps:

1- online search in the main biomedical databases;

2- selection and critical appraisal of a scientific article.

Once the essay has been sent (at least a week before), the theoretical part includes an oral test with discussion of the selected article and 3 questions on the general theory of the lessons.

During the oral exam, the use of mobile phones or support material such as handouts or notes is not permitted.

The final mark is given by the arithmetic mean of the mark obtained in the practical part (written thesis) and in the theoretical test (oral test), and is expressed in thirtieths.

Teaching tools

PC (with connection to internet and to biomedical databases and AlmaRE digital collections) and video-projector.
