Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student is able to:

recognize the different morphogenic processes and related forms;

build a geomorphological map.

Course contents

Introduction: general concepts and definitions - morphogenetic processes and forms.

Physical environment and human activity:  natural hazard, vulnerability and risk.

Introduction to geomorphological cartography.

Endogenous and exogenous processes and related landforms.

Karstification processes and landforms.

The geological factors in the relief shaping: tectonic related landforms and litho-structural landforms.

Slope geomorphology: runoff and landslide processes and landforms.

River geomorphology: drainage systems and river processes. river morphology and drainage basin landforms.

Coastal geomorphology: coast forms and processes. Characteristics of the different types of coast. Lagoons and river outlet.

Climatic geomorphology: landforms of periglacial, glacial, arid-hot, temperate and hot-humid morpho-climatic systems.

Planetary geomorphology.

Geomorphological heritage.
