Learning outcomes
the student will learn the pathogenesis of the main neurological diseases, elements of the neurological examination, of diagnostic tools and therapeutic options and the correct approach to different neurological syndromes on the part of the nurse
Course contents
Essential clinical manifestations of neurological diseases: the role of neurological examination.
Dysfunctions of motor system, of sensory system and of coordination system.
The cranial nerves.
The principal diagnostic exams in neurology.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
Parkinson disease and other diseases of extrapyramidal system
Acute cerebrovascular diseases.
The lesions of spinal cord.
Cerebellar ataxia and sensitive ataxia.
Neuromuscular diseases.
Demyelinating diseases.
Epilepsy and syncope.
Dementia.

Assessment methods
At the end of the course a written test is scheduled (multiple choice questions); being an integrated course the test consists of 90 questions (15 for each course) with a single answer to be chosen between 4 or + different solutions. For each course the student must correctly answer to at least 5 questions from the 15 proposed and the cumulative score must reach 54 correct answers to have the sufficiency (18/30) and according to the total number of correct answers are predefined (and communicated to the students ) also the upper scores; there is no penalty for incorrect answers. The time allowed for the exam is 80 minutes
