Learning outcomes

Course contents

Organizational structures and organizational processes. Forms of interdependence and coordination modes. The components of organizations.

Birth and diffusion of organizational forms in historical contexts: organizations based on personal relations, machine bureaucracies, professional bureaucracies, multidivisional, matrix and network structures. Instances of network structures and care-focused hospitals. Organizational design.

Front teaching. Discussion of case-studies.

Assessment methods

This course is part of a larger, integrated course. The overall mark on the integrated course is a weighted average of the marks obtained on single component courses. Weights are proportional to credits.

The exam for this course consists of an essay. Two pages is the minimum length. This essay should be written at home and delivered by e-mail. Deadline is the day of the exam Organizzazione Aziendale, not the day when the averaged grade of the integrated course is recorded.

This essay should establish a link between the theories illustrated in class and real life. Sources of inspiration include personal experiences, or experiences of other persons, or stories found in books, films or newspapers, or even the product of pure invention provided that they are sufficiently realistic.

Topics are not necessarily constrained to work experiences. The essay should entail many details on practical life.

The essay should be related to the topics discussed in this course. Please ask yourselves: "If I did not attend/studied this course, would I have written my essay in exactly the same way?" If the answer is "Yes", then it is unlikely to be a good essay.
