32158 - Theatre Laboratory (1) (G.A)

Academic Year 2018/2019

  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Drama, Art and Music Studies (cod. 0956)

Learning outcomes

By the end of this course students will:

- acquire and develop the knowledge of performative, organizational, managerial and artistic-professional aspects related to musical disciplines, privileging the practical experience of choral singing;

- integrate the knowledge of voice performance with the historical, theoretical and critical knowledge.

Course contents

The aim of the laboratory is to investigate the theoretical and practical implications of the preservation of performing and multimedia arts’ products (performances, installations, audiovisual and immersive digital environments, etc.) through the production and experimentation of audiovisual documentation. The research deals with both technical and theoretical-analytical skills, and it moves from the analysis of the creative processes and works produced a prototype of documentation of performing arts.

Working in this direction will allow memory, recording and dissemination of the works (and the documentation of the creative processes that supports them) to become an effective way for promoting the "immaterial" cultural heritage.

Teaching methods

The workshop will be developed in a double way, with some frontal introductory lessons, analysis of theatrical and choreographic works, as well as seminars. Other bibliographic or audiovisual indications will be provided and discussed during the course, in order to frame the problems raised in a broader analytical framework.

Due to the seminar character of the laboratory, the number of students is 25 and is particularly suitable for those who already know the basics of audio-visual documentation. Registrations must be received no later than 29 March 2019.

Assessment methods

The evaluation of the laboratory will be carried out according to the methods, timing and guidelines established by the course of studies. It will be based on an oral interview about the topics covered and on the evaluation and discussion of the storyboard produced during the seminar. The storyboard must be handed in one week before the call in which you intend to take the exam.

Teaching tools

The workshop brings into play the theoretical, analytical and critical-operational contribution of the teacher and the students and will be developed in two interrelated ways: a theoretical part in the form of lessons, and a practical part - with the direct intervention of the students - in the form of seminars dedicated to the analysis of audiovisual materials of the contemporary scene and the creation of a prototype of audiovisual documentation. The meetings with artists and experts working in this field of research-creation will be decisive for the course.
