Learning outcomes

This seminar -- intended especially for (but not limited to) the students who follow the course of Criminologia -- has as its focus the question of migrations, in relation to deviance and social control in today's Europe, with special attention onto the process of constructing a "European Union".

Course contents

At the start of the course we shall distribute a "Syllabus" about the eight meetings of two hours each (mid-March to mid-May. Generally speaking, the first meeting of the seminar will be dedicated to an introduztion of the subject-matter, the last to a presentation of their paper proposals by the students. In between, there will be specific presentations by the staff and by guests, both from Italy and abroad.

Teaching methods

A mix of lectures and student participation.

Assessment methods

For those who follow the Seminar together with the course of Criminologia, the final test will be a written paper, on a topic established together with the teacher, and that will be discussed in the final oral examination.

For those instead who do not have Criminologia in their study plan, the final evaluation will be based on attendance plus discussion of texts indicated in the Syllabus.

Teaching tools

Besides the in-class presentations, the writing of a written final essay that will be discussed at the oral examination.
