66106 - Experimental Methodology And Data Analysis

Academic Year 2017/2018

  • Moduli: Francesca Ventura (Modulo 1) Saverio Ranciati (Modulo 2)
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures (Modulo 1) Traditional lectures (Modulo 2)
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Planning and management of agro-territorial, forest and landscape (cod. 8532)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student is able to c,orrectly plan an agro-environmental experiment using schemes, time series and space experiments. It is also able to interpret statistically the relationships between the measured parameters. He acquires the basics of modeling, applicable in agricultural practice. He is able to independently evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the obtained results, thanks to the appropriate use of objective tools and techniques, based on data, supported by the experience in the field of statistics and GIS. It also has the means to elaborate its own opinion of the phenomena studied and can convey the acquired knowledge to others.

Course contents

Prerequisites

The student is required to know the basic knowledge of agrometeorology, the main agrometeorological quantities and their elaborations, the basics of climatology. These notions are usually given in agrometeorology courses, but they are not present in all three-year degree courses, or in agronomic courses.

The student is also required to have knowledge of the basics of statistics.

The course consists of two separate Teaching Units:

Teaching unit 1. Agroclimatology (12 hours of frontal lesson and 8 exercises)

Teaching unit 2. INTRODUCTION TO ENVIRONMENTAL STATISTICS WITH R (16 hours of front lesson and 14 exercises)
