Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to communicate the awareness about the impact of chemistry on every-day life, since it is used to produce, among other goods, food and drugs. The most characteristic features of the chemistry applied to the field of agricolture, food and human healt will be examined.
Course contents
Topics include :
1. the chemistry of the main families of agrochemicals (fungicides, herbicides, insecticides)
2. the chemistry of food (natural products, additives, mineral salts)
3. some products from medicinal chemistry (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, antiviral agents)
