Learning outcomes
The student is able to use th basic tools and methods of translation. He is also able to adapt his translation strategies to the specificities of both the text source and the function of the translated text in the target language and culture.
Course contents
The course aims to give the students translation skills in dealing with texts of varied content and increasing difficulty. In particular, emphasis will be placed on: - methodological skills : text analysis, documentary research for an appropriate use of terminological lexis; - linguistic skills : comparison of different grammatical structures, syntax and morphology between the source language and target language to improve linguistic quality without interference.

Teaching methods
The course includes:
- translations weekly assigned as homework with discussions in
classroom. In addition, follow-up sessions in groups for short
translation projects and a reflexive French/Italian contrastive
linguistic approch from the students.
- the consolidation of grammatical structures and the study of
interference between Italian and French at the syntactic /
morphological level thrrough the use of student's
translations.
Assessment methods
Final exam: translation of a text with the text types / thematic areas worked during the course. Total length: 300 words max.
