- Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Natural Sciences (cod. 8016)
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student has acquired a basic knowledge
of the various classes of organic compounds and the more important
reaction mechanisms. Also, the student will know in details the
structure and reactivity of the most important groups of
bio-molecules.
Course contents
Chemical bond and carbon hybridization states. Physical properties of organic molecules. Basic concepts of chemical reactivity. Alkanes and cycloalkanes. Alkenes and alkynes. Conformational analysis. Cis/trans (E/Z) isomers. Chiral molecules: enantiomers and diastereomes. Conjugated unsaturated systems. Alcohols, ethers and phenols. Aldehydes and ketones. Carboxylic acids and acyl derivatives. Amines. Carbohydrates: Monosaccharides (D-glucose, D-fructose), Disaccharides (saccharose, maltose, lactose). Polysaccharides.
