Learning outcomes

At the end of the course, the student possesses the knowledge relating to the clinical and assistance pathways in palliative care, to the methods of taking charge of the person, to his management in relation to the services and professions present in the territory.

Course contents

- Palliative care: definition, historical evolution and reference regulations

- The specific nursing skills and the integrated approach

- The palliative care network: The need for palliative care, assessment tools and early management

- The main care needs and treatments of the patient candidate for palliative care

- Pain: the perspective of palliative care and refractory symptoms

- The relationship between operators, patients and families between the silence of the word and the empathic approach

- Support at the end of life and mourning

- Human Caring: from the ethics of care to palliative sedation
