- Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Electronic Engineering (cod. 0934)
Learning outcomes
Aim of the course is to present the main phases leading to the realization of a measurement system employing the most advanced technologies. To this purpose each detail is considered; from thedesign of thetrasducer interfaceto the correct processing and storage of signals. A relevant amount of time is dedicated to a basic course of LabVIEW and data acquisition using DAQ cards and benchtop instruments.
Course contents
Lectures
Design of the measurement system. Selection criteria, performance analysis and discussion. Interfacing of benchtop instruments, DAQ cards, embedded system, VXI, PXI.
Signal conditioning: DiffAmp and InAmp. charge amplifiers, I/V converters. Data sheets analysis and discussion. Selection criteria. Interface issues.
Cabling: grounding, shielding, noise reduction techniques.
Lab activity
LabVIEW: structure, programming and control of the measurement system. Signal acquisition and processing using LabVIEW libraries and toolkits. Design and realization of data acquisition systems based on DAQ cards and LabVIEW as well as benchtop instruments controlled via GPIB. Analysis of simple circuits using different approaches. Development of simple measurement systems.
