Learning outcomes
The students develop a detailed understanding of the theoretical models and the analytical tools for the study of the processes of internationalization of firms and industries. Special attention will be devoted to globalization, theory of international trade, Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) protection, organization of the patent system, international technology transfer.
Course contents
- Globalization: Definitions, measurement and Impact on the market for goods and the market for labour;
- AN introduction to the theory of international trade;
- Direct and indirect measures of innovative activities;
- The TRIPS Agreement and the Evolution of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) protection;
- The functioning of the patent system;
- International Technology transfer.
