Course contents
The aim of the course is to provide the students with the strategies and the methodology for the translation of different types of texts into Russian.
During the course the main translation difficulties will be examined, such as specific morphosyntactic structures, lexics and cultural concepts that have no direct equivalents in the Russian language. The course consists of the practical lessons that aim at developing the student's skills to analyze the original texts and to produce an adequate translation into Russian by making all the necessary structural transformations and stylistic choices. A special attention will be paid to the use of bilingual and monolingual dictionaries, text corpora, the Internet and other tools.
Texts on historical and cultural themes as well as tourism-related texts will be proposed for the translation.
