Course contents

Power and recognition in Hegel, Fanon, Foucault

The seminar will discuss the relationship between power and recognition in three classics of modern philosophy and political thought, such as Hegel, Fanon, and Foucault. Classes will give to students the conceptual and critical instruments necessary to understand the three authors.

Teaching methods

The seminar is articulated into two sections. The first part will be organized in teachers'  lectures on sources (24 hours), while the last three lessons (6 hours) will be dedicated to students’ oral presentations.

Assessment methods

Class attendance and presentation of papers. During the first week, students must set with teachers the topic of their paper (one author or a general topic).
