Learning outcomes

 The student will be able to collect and interpret information obtained from diagnostic imaging procedures and relate them to the specific clinical case.

Course contents

The student performs the ultrasonographic and radiographic examinations of patients referred to the Teaching Hospital. The procedure ends with a written report.

Teaching methods

The student performs the radiographs of a small animal (thorax, abdomen , column, skull or legs) under the supervision of the teacher with particular attention to the technical protocol and the choice of projections. The student detects the radiographic findings and write a report.

The student performs the abdominal ultrasound of a small animal  under the supervision of the teacher with particular attention to the technical protocol and the choice of probe. The student detects the ultrasonografic findings and write a report.


Assessment methods

The teacher assesses the quality of the radiographs and ultrasound images obtained  and corrects the report written by the student.

·         High Frequency X-ray Machine – Raffaello – HF/4

·         General and cardiology Ultrasound Machine HD 3500


·        Work Station a software for display the DICOM images (OsiriX MD)

·        Access to the software FENICE for filling the report
