Learning outcomes

Starting from the main theoretical models, students are expected to apprehend the base models to understand the current debate on both micro and macroeconomics, along with the relevant policy implications. Moreover, they are expected to learn the main issues on economic development, based on a comparative approach.

Course contents

Students are expected to follow the program of the current year irrespectively from their actual enrollment year. The program of the course is made up of the following parts (those indicated are the chapters of the textbook "Economia", Giappichelli, III edition, 2009, see textbooks). Modifications or integrations to the program above will be communicated in class.

Teaching methods

No previous background in mathematics is required.

Assessment methods

* The examination consists of a written exam, after which (if passed with a minimum mark of 18/30) students are entitled to take an oral exam. Students are required to register for both write and oral examinations through the AlmaEsami web-page. Written and oral examination must be taken in the same session ("appello").

* Program for students who need to integrate a limited number of credits.

i) 1-2 credits:

Exam: oral only

Evaluation: pass;

Textbook Chapters: Ch.8 for students with a macroeconomic background; Ch.14 for students with a microeconomic background

ii) 3 credits:

Exam: written plus oral

Evaluation: mark

Textbook chapters: Ch. 8 and 14

iii) 4 credits or more

Exam: written + oral

Evaluation: mark

Textbook chapters: Ch. 8 and 14 plus others to be agreed with the lecturers on the basis of individual programs.
