Learning outcomes

Il corso introduce al concetto di macromolecola. Vengono esaminate la struttura e la microstruttura della catena creando correlazioni tra questi parametri ed il comportamento termico e meccanico del materiale.  Viene analizzato il ciclo di vita del materiale dalla fase di polimerizzazione al suo riciclo finale

Polymerization Step-growth and Chain growth mechanisms Kinetics. Examples

Structure of polymeric chains. Conformations and configurations Morphology.

General relationships between structure and properties

Molecular weight. Definitions and experimental determination

Crystallization, melting and glass transition

Mechanical properties

Temperature dependence Ultimate properties. Elastic modulus. Yielding process

Viscoelastic behaviour Creep and stress relaxation processes
