- Corso: First cycle degree programme (L) in Technologies and diagnostics for conservation and restoration of cultural heritage (cod. 8536)
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student knows the elements of Physics interestingfor Cultural Heritage. He isable to understand the physical phenomena involved in particular degradation processes and used in diagnostics for Cultural Heritage; moreover he has the basics of error theory and analysis of experimental data.
Course contents
The course is subdivided in two modules: the first one (56 hours) is held by Prof. Paolo Gasperini and is is borrowed from "Basic general Physics" of the 1st Cycle Degree Programme of "Environmental Sciences"; the second one (16 hours) is held byDr. Maria Pia Morigi.
1st Module
Physical quantities, measurement units, kinematics and point particle dynamics, work and energy, conservation of energy and of linear momentum. Static equilibrium, elasticity. Gravitation and Kepler's laws.
Electrical charges and forces, electrical fields, electrical potential, capacitance and capacitors, dielectrics, electrical currents and resistences, circuits, magnetic fields and forces, magnetic fields produced by moving charges, induced electromotive forces and inductances.
Thermology, thermal expansion, gas laws.
2nd Module
Waves mechanics, electromagnetic waves, hints of optics,
multi-spectral imaging methods, X-rays, applications of radiography
and Computed Tomography in the Cultural Heritage field.
