Course contents

The course poses the question whether it is possible to talk about children's imagination and if it wouldn'tbe better to talk about adult representations of childhood; it presents some historical metaphors of childhood; it analyses a certain kind ofchildren's literature andcinema as means through which a more authentic representation of childhood has been spread, a representation of it that does not seek to explain this age, but rather portrays it as definitly alien and different from the adult world.

The study of the following two critical essays:

Beseghi E., Grilli G., La letteratura invisibile, Roma Carocci, 2011;

Grilli G.,Libri nella giungla. Orientarsi nell'editoria per ragazzi, Roma, Carocci, 2012.

Beside the study of the two critical essays, the student has to read 4 NOVELS for children, or having children as protagonists, chosen according to a thematic thread that links them all in one way or another.
