Learning outcomes
The course pourposes are to initiate the students to the study of the ancient history of the Emilia Romagna region by means of the direct analysis of various sources tipologies (literary, epygraphic, archaeological, etc.). The students will be able to acquire an elementary background and a research methodology concerning the study of the various themes characterising the ancient world, particularly its institutions, society and culture.
Course contents
-General outlines of the Augustus' VIII region, starting from the roman conquest of the Po plain.
-Various aspects analysis of the romanisation in the Cispadana region (social, economics, religious, institutional etc.) based on different data typologies.
-Methodology exemples about the documentation analysis to attaine a final conclusion of general historical value.
The final lessons will analyze the most recent archaeological discoveries concerning the ancient town of Mutina (Modena).
The lessons are going to begin the 4th of february 2013 and they will take place on monday, tuesday and wednedsday from 9 am to 11 am, in the Aula Marco Celio, in via Zamboni 38, V floor.

Teaching methods
Direct lessons in classroom. Visits to the Emilia Romagna region Museums will be probably organized (Museo Civico Archeologico di Bologna, Antiquarium di Marzabotto, Museo Archeologico di Ferrara).
Assessment methods
The final examination will be of an oral type, concerning a general background culture and the fundamentals of the research methodology.
