Course contents

Following a contrastive analysis of the French and the Italian publishing world, we will focus briefly on the role of the translator and translation in publishing. The module will offer an analysis of some types of texts, including children's literature, literary non-fiction texts and the humanities, to conclude with short stories.

Scientific/technical module (Danio Maldussi)

This scientific/technical module aims at enhancing translation competence and promoting the student's autonomy in tackling professional translation. When tackling specialised texts, special care will be taken to enhance documentation strategies.  Students will be encouraged to focus on specific terminology, text-internal information (graphs, illustrations and tables).

The lessons will focus on the following domains:

- marketing strategies, in particular international case studies, online commerce and media planning;

- legal aspects such as electronic commerce and contract drafting and management;

- financial domain, with a particular focus on Stock Exchange and corporate marketing strategies.
