Learning outcomes
The course is proposed to supply the competences for being able to carry out the development of new products. In particular the main elements will be provided to choose the more suitable technological processes for new product manufacturing. Also some techniques will be presented for being able to quickly pass from the idea of a product to its effective manufacturing and breaking on the market.
Course contents
Product definition and processes selection for manufacturing.
Analysis of the product and determination of criteria, inherent to the manufacturing that they concur to the definition of the product and its design.
Analysis of the technological processes for manufacturing and the suitable materials for the effective manufacturing of the product.
Analysis of the productive system of reference.
Analysis of the technological complexity of the product and processes.
The choice of the process
Criteria and techniques for the choice of the processes:
The automated systems to aid to the choices
The techniques of processes simulation.
The appraisal of the obtainable characteristics of the product in function of the selected process and appraisal of the fabrication costs.
The Time Compression techniques for the product development.
Concurrent engineering and automation of the product development phases.
The prototypes manufacturing.
- The prototypes for designing aid
- The functioning prototypes
The analysis and the choice of processes and materials for prototypes manufacturing.
Techniques of "Rapid Prototyping" and "Rapid Tooling"
Techniques of "Reverse Engineering" applied to the prototypes for geometric and dimensional control to aid to the designing activity and to evaluate the technological process.
