Learning outcomes

The student shall have a deep knowledge concerning the evolution of the concept of heritage and of his relationship with the tourism sector and more in general with the economic one, through the analysis of different heritage valorization strategies during the XXth century and the evaluation of their impacts on tourism and economics.

In general the student will able to define valorization models of material and immaterial heritage and their correspondences in the different regional and international areas and to distinguish between cultural and tourism product in a local development perspective.

       2. Cultural tourism during the last 40 years
       3. Cultural tourism in Europe: some case studies
       4. Cultural tourism in Italy: some case studies
       5. Cultural tourism and heritage: differences and similarities
       6. Evolution of the heritage meaning and definition
       7. Heritage management: some case studies in historical perspectives
       8. The economic impact of heritage: some case studies
       9.  Heritage interpretation
       10. The guidebooks and the construction of tourist destination image
       11. The guides as cultural mediators
