Course contents

1. Introduction. Equations of fluid mechanics, mass, momentum and energy conservation. Non dimesional parameters, initial and boundary conditions.
2. Ordinary differential equations. Euler and Crank-Nicholson.Consistency, accuracy and stability. Systems of equation.  Multi-step and Runge-Kutta methods.
4. Finite differences. Approximations and truncation errors. Modified wave number. Convection-diffusion equations. Von Neumann stability.
5. Discretization techniques for Navier-Stokes. Incompressible flows. Projection methods and solution for the Poisson equations. Optimization and parallelization.
