  1. Course Methodology, Structure and Process, The concept of Management, The organizational chart, The case of S.M.E. Agency organizational chart, HRM as a process: parameters and indicators, Efficacy, efficiency,adequacy.
  2. Personnel Management Personnel selection, training and evaluation.
  3. Teams and teamwork Dynamics of inter-personal relations. Size and structure of human groups. Roles, tasks and activities.
  4. Negotiation Origin of conflicts and conflict management.
  5. Leadership Empowerment, ambiguity, styles of leadership.

Teaching methods

Lectures and discussions. Group exercises.

Assessment methods

Written exam. The exam is composed by 3 parts of 10 marks each, totalling 30:

- 5 multiple choice exercises, valued 2 marks each;

- Precise answers to 5 questions, valued 2 marks each, without exceeding 50-100 words per answer (the maximum length allowed depends on the particular question);

- An essay to write at home or during the exam, either in English or Italian, concerning a practical application of what has been taught and discussed. This essay is strictly individual, it must not exceed 1 page and it must be delivered at the very examination day. This essay should neither repeat the concepts expressed in class, nor refer episodes unrelated to the course. Rather, it should embed the concepts received during the course in an empirical context known to the student.


Anything exceeding the above limits will be ignored. The exam can be written either in English or Italian. Honour is granted on overall evaluation of outstanding performance.
