Course contents
Analysis of paints.
General concepts, definitions and classification of coating
materials.
Paints and varnishes having low environmental impact.
Features and properties of the main components: resins, pigments,
fillers, solvents and additives. Determination of the density,
of volatile substances, of the percentage of resin and
pigments.
Structural analysis of resin and their classification.
Qualitative analysis of pigments and co-pigments

Teaching methods
The course is done through practical exercises in the laboratory preceded by lectures necessary to acquire useful knowledge for carrying out the experience. There are also classroom activities for discussion of the obtained results.
Assessment methods
The verification is carried out by means of a final oral examination that ensures the knowledge acquired by the candidate and the capacity to address the practical problems concerning the experiences of laboratory.
