Learning Outcomes
Necessary knowledge and skills to understand and analyse conflicts and cultural resources present in multi ethnic society in order to plan effective care.
Specific Objectives : Knowledge and analytical skills in the following areas
- multiculturalism and interculturalism;
- stereotypes, prejudices, and education processes;
- racism: attitudes and behaviour
- immigration and learning processes;
- intercultural family models with specific reference to international adoption;
- pedagogical models: assimilation, separation and integration;
- diversity and different and learning to value differences
- overcoming ethnic conflicts;
- creating and evaluating intercultural training courses in an extra-scholastic context
Course contents
Intercultural pedagogy, the development of multicultural societies and the educational process.
The course aims to provide knowledge and reflection on the following themes: multiculturalism and interculturalism, stereotypes, prejudices, and educational processes; racism, immigration and learning processes , diversity and difference; pedagogical models, assimilation and integration, valuing differences, intercultural education and overcoming ethnic conflicts.Readings/Bibliography
