Learning outcomes

This course presents the main themes and methods of macroeconomic analysis at an introductory level and provides the basic tool box to understand issues related to the macroeconomic equilibrium in closed and open economies and the related policy debate.

Course contents

Course contents:

1.       Main macroeconomic aggregates

2.       Real and financial markets. The IS-LM model

3.       The labor market. The natural rate of unemployment. Aggregate demand and aggregate supply.

4.       Expectations

5.       Economic Policy

6.       The open economy. The exchange rate. The IS-LM model in open economy. Exchange rate regimes. 

7.       High public debt and the European Economic and Monetary Union.
