27499 - Metal-Organic Chemistry and Laboratory

Academic Year 2009/2010

  • Docente: Magda Monari
  • Credits: 6
  • SSD: CHIM/03
  • Language: Italian
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Bologna
  • Corso: Second cycle degree programme (LM) in Chemistry (cod. 8029)

Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student has learnt  the principal synthetic methods of the most relevant classes of organometallic compounds and is able to rationalize their reactivity. The student can also understand the role of organometallic compounds in some industrial catalytic processes and plan the synthesis of some classes of compounds and characterize them by using the most commom  spectroscopic techniques.

Course contents

Transition metals organometallic compounds: alkyls and aryls, carbenes and carbynes, carbonyls, olefin and alkyne complexes, allyl and enyl complexes, complexes of the cyclic CnHn ligands, metal-metal bonds and cluster compounds. Organometallic catalysis.
