Learning outcomes

After the course's end the student has a basic knoledge of historical and cultural issues regarding China and its area of infuence, that he can effectively explain in oral and written shape, also according to related bibliography.



Course contents

Introduction to Chinese civilization and outlines of history, Peculiarities of Chinese culture (language, thought, society, economy, government structure, relations with foreign peoples) and their development in different historical periods till the fall of Qing dinasty.

Readings/Bibliography

Bibliography for thematic reserches will be given at lesson.
After course's end, students may request in Department the detailed list of subjects of lessons with their references (on pendrive), and they can copy it on their own pendrives.

Teaching methods

Explanation of peculiarities of different historical periods and of the notable cultural events of each period.

Assessment methods

To take examination it's requested:
a) knoledge of course's arguments,
b) a short written dissertation (on a settled subject agreed with professor) must be presented a week before examination,
To take examination (for students who don't attend the course) it's requested:
a) knoledge of course's arguments,
b) analisys of a freely chosen subjet,
c) a short written dissertation (on a settled subject agreed with professor) must be presented a week before examination.
