26365 - AFPG - Lab-based Course of Parametric Aided Design

Academic Year 2009/2010

  • Docente: Andrea Prati
  • Credits: 2
  • Language: Italian
  • Teaching Mode: Traditional lectures
  • Campus: Cesena
  • Corso: Long cycle 2nd degree programme in Architecture (cod. 0012)

Learning outcomes

At the end of this course students will be able to use an integrated Building Information Modelling (BIM) system (i.e. a method to optimise building and urban block design, construction and management processes; all companies involved in the implementation of a project are given access to updated, qualitatively valid and freely accessible information on the state of the project, its implementation and advancement of works). Such a method is used in the representation of objects within the fields of architecture and town planning.

The main aim is to acquire methods for the three-dimensional representation of architecture through extrapolation from three-dimensional models of computation lists and 2D elements, to obtain bidimensional technical drawings with Allplan and Cinema 4D software.

Course contents

-         Allplan 2009 software interface and data management.

-         Creating and managing projects in the Allplan environment.

-         Introducing 2D design and simple construction elements.

-         Introducing free solid modelling: solids, Boolean operations, connections.

-         Level theory, storeys and roof level.

-         Architectural modelling through inclusion of elements such as pillars, beams, walls, stairs, floors, roofs, railings, etc.

-         Using and customising parametric macros and objects.

-         Using and customising sets of parametric objects (using BIC, i.e. Building Intelligent Contents, in Allplan).

-         Extrapolating 2D elements (plans, projections, sections and views) to generate bidimensional technical drawings.

-         Exporting 3D models into other formats, including 3D PDF and DWG; saving drawings in PDF form for printing.

-         Extrapolating computation lists and metric data from 3D models.

-         Evaluating models created via lights and materials.

-         Shading and studying models according to the position of sun.

-         Defining surfaces with texture, transparency and reflexion and introducing Rendering.

Readings/Bibliography
