Learning outcomes

The attitude test of German, level B1, enable students to reach the following skills:

  • Grammar knowledges: morphological-lexical: 20 items.
  • Grammar knowledges: syntax: 5 items.
  • Reading comprehension: 15 items.
  • Listening comprehension: 10 items.

Course contents

2.1 Communicative functions:

Comprehension of written texts of different typologies: advertisements, signals, notices, descriptions, articles, formal and informal letters, short messages. Comprehension of oral texts: dialogues, telephone calls, messages taken from the answering machine, notices, informative texts (ex: the weather), news, radio listening.

2.2 Grammar contents:

Noun phrase

  • Cases: nominative, accusative, dative, genitive
  • Noun declension, the second declension – determinative and indeterminative articles, possessive articles and their declension
  • Personal demonstrative pronouns, possessives, indefinites and their declension Adverbial pronouns Adjectives: predicative position, attributive position; their declension, comparative and superlative formation

Verbal noun

  • Verbal tenses: Präsens, Präteritum, Perfekt, Plusquamperfect, Futur I
  • Separable verbs
  • Auxiliary and modal verbs
  • Reflexive and reciprocal verbs
  • Main irregular verbs in the following tenses: Präteritum, Perfekt and Plusquamperfect
  • Moods: indicative, imperative, subjunctive (II)
  • Passive form: Präsens, Präteritum, Perfekt, Plusquamperfekt, Futur I Passive form with a modal verb: Präsens, Präteritum, Perfekt Participle (as an attribute – noun phrase)

Other elements

  • Main prepositions Main adverbs, comparative and superlative included Main conjunctions (those linking two principal sentences and those linking a main sentence and a secondary one)

  • Interrogative sentence

  • Work: counselling, main vocabulary
  • Mass-media, news, the weather
  • Culture: cinema, art, theatre, music; main concepts of the socio-political world

Teaching methods

In order to prepare attitude tests, the linguistic center (CLIRO) organizes blended modules made up as follows:

  • Group work (traditional lessons with exercises, activities, grammar and lexical explanations on the base of all the topics of the E-learning Platform)
  • Discussion forums to interact on-line with tutors and other students
  • Exercises and practice through the CLIRO E-learning Platform

Assessment methods

The final exam will consist in a 60 minutes computerised written test.

Standard tests are available on the CLIRO AlfaCert platform.
