Learning outcomes

Comprehension of the principles fundamental to the operation of computer systems.

Course contents

Organisation of computer systems. Binary systems. Boolean algebra and logic gates. Design of combinational circuits. Complementary elements of combinational circuits. Sequential circuits. Memory, CPU and bus. Analysis and design of sequential circuits. The microarchitecture level. The ISA level. Assembly programming.
