Learning outcomes
The course aims at deepening the students knowledge of monographs on issues and authors typical of the moral thought, with direct text-analysis, reference to the challenges existing in the time when they were written, and general analysis of the critiques published on such texts.
Course contents
COURSE TITLE: THE PROBLEM OF SLAVERY IN THE ANCIENT WORLD
CONTENTS: the course aims at reconstructing the constants and the ethical and political turning points in the concept of slavery in the classic world, in the Greek and Roman culture in particular.

Teaching methods
During the lectures, great importance will be given to dialogue and exchange of opinions with the students. There might be some seminars.
Assessment methods
Direct discussion and dialogue with students during the course will be supported by a final assessment (oral exam) on the texts in the program: students should therefore bring their books along for the exam.
