Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to initiate students into the main issues, concepts and theories elaborated - in the study of complex societies - by sociology as a scientific discipline characterized by a specific investigation logic and by the integration of theory and empirical research.

Course contents

The following subjects will be treated:

- sociology as theory and research;

- industrial society, social change, social stratification;

- mass society and mass communication;

- power, parties and participation in political life;

- socialization process, small groups, knowledge processes.

Frontal teaching.

Assessment methods

The final examination consists in multiple choice, closed-end questions.
