Course contents

The course aims to further increase awareness of translation problems from Italian into Chinese, by introducing methodologies and practical strategies for dealing with specialized translation assignments.

More specifically, students will be guided in the linguistic and discursive analysis of the source text and in the elaboration of the target version, with a contrastive perspective towards the main typological differences between Italian and Chinese.

Furthermore, along with the translation exercise, basic notions relating to the technical-commercial topic will be provided, aiming at highlighting the importance of contextual and extra-linguistic information in translation activities. At the end of the course, students will be able to carry out thematic research and create glossaries independently and with effective tools.
