00895 - Political Science (M-Z)

Academic Year 2022/2023

Learning outcomes

The aim of the course is to provide the fundamental knowledge about the method, concepts, categories and key models of Political Science. At the end of the course the student is able to describe and interpret political phenomena and in particular the functioning and transformations of political-institutional systems, democratic and otherwise; it also has the analysis tools to decode the political debate in democratic countries and relate it to the most relevant issues addressed by Political Science and the linguistic and logical tools to communicate to an audience of specialists and non-specialists the results of its analysis, theoretical and empirical.

Course contents

The course addresses in both a methodological and empirical key, the dimensions of a democracy and, in doing so, builds the tools to observe the dynamics of change of democracies and political systems in general.

Each thematic junction is addressed on the basis of the same reasoning scheme: concept, anchoring to the literature, empirical declination in existing researches of greater international significance.

Being the dimensions 8, 8 thematic junctions are planned. Despite the functional approach, the course allows you to observe political phenomena both on a macro level and with a perspective centered on actors, political parties, interest groups, actors of national, European and international institutions.
