Learning outcomes

At the end of the course the student knows the theories and hypotheses about the periodicity of the ancient and medieval ages; knows how to orient on the elements of continuity and section that characterize the periodicity (nomads and sedentary, the great results of ancient and medieval civilizations, their footprints and legacies in the contemporary world); knows how to identify and expose the characteristics and indicators of cultures that have occurred in the millennia between protohistory and the modern age; knows to prepare research using specific sources and bibliographies; has general and analytical knowledge of the course of developments, phenomena and events relating to the periods covered in the course; knows how to manage skills and knowledge acquired to develop writings and interventions on general and specific topics.

*From 21 to 25 October 2019, the lessons will be replaced by attendance at the events of the 16th edition of "International History Feast" which will take place in Bologna from 19 to 27 October 2019 with the title of "Viva la Storia Viva" (www.festadellastoria.unibo.it).

Attending students at the events of the "Feast of History", at least for sixteen hours, will be exempted from the study of:

Teaching methods

Lessons will be supported by reading, commenting on sources and watching movies. Educational and laboratory activities will be presented in the contexts of primary and kindergartens. Activities aimed at encouraging active student participation.

Assessment methods

The exam is held orally through questions designed to test the knowledge of the topics covered in class and those contained in the texts required. Students are interrogated with general questions so that they can demonstrate their preparation for moving in the matter and deepening the topics. In addition to knowledge of the content, they contribute to the overall assessment of language and the ability to organize information relevant answers that demonstrate critical and argumentative.

Teaching tools

Lectures will make use of the use of the computer network sites, movies and audio visual computer presentations (Power Point). These toolsare made available to student in the "Teaching materials".
