Full Professor of Agricultural Economics and Appraisal. He carries out his research in the field of agro-food economics and marketing. His research interests are focused in particular on consumer behavior, quality management and assurance, adoption of innovations in agriculture, in particular information technology, and supply chain management.
Education
He holds a PhD in "Appraisal and Land Economics" awarded by the University of Padova, in the final exam held in Bologna on May 6, 1997, with a thesis entitled "Determinants of market value of agricultural real estate".
He holds a laurea degree in Agricultural Sciences - Technical-Economic Address (Major "Land planning and environmental protection") on March 16, 1990 at the Faculty of Agriculture of the University of Bologna, with a thesis in 'Rural Appraisal' entitled: "Methodological and estimative aspects in the evaluation of the environmental impact of a landfill of solid urban waste"; supervisor Prof. Maurizio Grillenzoni, co-supervisor Dr. Guido Maria Bazzani.
Academic career
After a two-year research scholarship awarder by the National Research Council (1992-1993) he attended the PhD program in Appraisal and Land Economics (University and Padua) awarded in 1997, then in 1998 he became Researcher in the disciplinary sector AGR/01 Economics and Rural Appraisal, at the Department of Agricultural Economics and Engineering of the University of Bologna. In 2005 he is promoted to Associate Professor in the same Department. In February 2014 he obtained the National Scientific Habilitation as Full Professor. In February 2021 he is appointed Full Professor, starting in the role from September 20, 2021.
Current research interests include agri-food marketing and marketing research, with specific topics regarding consumer preferences, quality management, innovation in agriculture and food, value chain analysis and management.
He is a member of several professional associations, such as the International Association of Agricultural Economists IAAE, the European Association of Agricultural Economists EAAE, the Italian Society of Agricultural Economics SIDEA, the Italian Society of Agri-food Economics SIEA.
Editor-in-Chief of the academic journal Economia agro-alimentare/Food Economy and member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of International Food and Agribusiness Marketing , the International Journal on Food System Dynamics, Sustainability, and previously (2012-2015) the Canadian Journal of Agricultural Economics, (2012-2015) the Journal of Food Products Marketing, and (2016-2019) the International Journal of Food and Beverage Manufacturing and Business Models.
