Andrea Segre' graduated with full marks and honours in
Agricultural Sciences at the University of Bologna in
1985.
In 1990 he took a Master degree in Politiques Agricoles
et Administration du Developpement (Institut Agronomique
Mediterraneen de Montpellier, France, 1990) and in 1991 he took a
PhD in Agricultural Economics and Policy (University of Bologna,
1991).
In 1991 he became Researcher in Economics and
Agricultural Politics at the University of Bologna: in 1998 he was
nominated Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics and in 2000
Professor straordinario in Economic Systems and
Agriculture.
Since 2003 he is full Professor of Agricultural and
Rural Development Policies at the University of
Bologna.
From February 2004 to October 2005 he was Director of
the Department of Agricultural Economics and Engineering at the
Alma Mater Studiorum-University of Bologna .
Since November 1st 2005, he is Dean of the Faculty of
Agricultural Sciences at the Alma Mater Studiorum, University of
Bologna.
Between 1988 and 1992 he was visiting fellow of
Agricultural Economics at the Department of Agricultural Economics,
Cornell University (USA) and from 1993 to 1995 he was visiting
professor of Agricultural Policy in Transitional Economies at the
Department of Social Sciences, Roskilde University
(DK).
From 1990 to 2000 he was Delegate at OSCE, Forum on
Agricultural Policies in non-Member Countries.
He won several prices: in 1986 the Cesare Zucchini
Price, in 1989 and 1991 the final price of CNR for an original
research in the USA, in 1992 the Luigi Perdisa Price and in 2007
the Scanno Riccardo Tanturri Price (Food
section).
He has dealt for a long time with the transition
processes of the economic-agricultural systems in the countries of
the ex real socialism, developing many missions on the field on
behalf of various International Organizations (European Commission,
World Bank, Fao, Ocse, Italian Minstry of Foreign Affairs) and
publishing different volumes and scientific articles (see the list
of publications).
He has conceived and promoted the Last Minute Market
projects, whose aim is to reclaim food and non food unsold products
and distribute them to charity associations (www.lastminutemarket.org
).
At the moment he is President of the Centre for Central
and Eastern Europe and the Balkans, Scientific Coordinator of the
PhD on International Cooperation and Sustainable Development
Policies -a programme developed through specific agreements with
the EU Commission, UNECE
