Learning outcomes

The Index presents a detailed analysis of the school, involving all its protagonists. This process triggers a change towards inclusion. The Index involves overcoming the concept of Special Educational Needs, whose framework continues to consider disability an individual problem. The Index aims to replace the obstacles to learning and participation. In the Index the characteristic of disability is not attributed to the individual, but to situations, which are more suitable for some and not for other individuals, within an a priori and reassuring normality criterion. The Index supports a broad and widespread idea of support through activities that increase the school's ability to respond to pupil diversity. Providing individual support is only part of the effort to increase pupil participation "and when the participation of all pupils is guaranteed, the need for individual support decreases. Widespread support involves a global reorganization of the school in its structural, organizational and teacher training aspects, etc. (including continuing education for everyone in the school).

The laboratory aims at theoretical ideas about the inclusive community:

  • analysis of the school context, the professionalism of the support teacher and the search for possible educational interventions:
  • develop constructive and collaborative behaviors at an interinstitutional and social level

    enter and act consciously in school contexts

  • learn about inclusive methodologies such as individualized and personalized teaching, cooperative learning, peer education, group work, lesson simplification, etc.

Teaching methods

Preference will be given to small and large groups to share reflections and observations and will also offer dramatizations, simulations and techniques that facilitate participation.

Assessment methods

The workshop and the final product will be subject to evaluation that will affect the final grade of the Special Education course for inclusion. Each student will be required to produce a paper using the individual study hours provided (34 hours), in addition to the 16 hours of face-to-face lessons.

An absence of up to 25% of the total time is allowed. It should be noted, however, that attendance at the first and last meeting is mandatory.

Students who do not attend the first meeting of the laboratory to confirm their presence to those who lead, will be automatically excluded from the laboratory.

The evaluation of each laboratory, regardless of the duration, includes four judgments:

• REJECTED: laboratory to be re-performed;

• -1;

• 0;

• +1.

The evaluation will be made known by the tenants through Almaesami and will contribute, considering the average grade of the different teaching modules, to define the final grade of the exam. This evaluation will remain valid until the vote is recorded

Teaching tools

Lessons take place in a classroom equipped with a video projector. It is preferable for participants to have their own computer and / or tablet. During the workshop activities, materials will be provided to carry out the planned activities including colored pencils, posters, markers and stationery.
