Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student:
- knows and understands the main didactic models adopted in different areas of social work
- is able to interpret the specificity of different contexts and to elaborate appropriate didactic strategy to solve problems
- is able to reflect on hers/his own competences as an educator and to adapt her/his professional role and practice across a variety of social and cultural contexts.
- knows the main techniques used for facilitating group work and team working
- is able to work in team for designing educational projects, discussing context-appropriate strategies and for developing interpretative tools.
- is competent in choosing adequate strategies in order to promote collaboration among different subjects involved in educational projects (individuals or groups or institutions) and in identifying synergies and share directions for work.
Course contents
Taught contents are referred to the following topics:
- Definition of didactics as the entirety of all the methodologies adopted for educational interventions carried out in the field of social work
- Didactics' conceptual categories: the learner, the educator, the contents, the languages and the contexts where learning takes place
- Didactics as mediation: the role of languages, relations, strategies, materials
- Designing educational projects according to participatory processes
- Didactic methodologies and tools for implementation
- Team work methodologies and cooperative learning
Part of the course - 4 hours out of 48 - will be a provided in e-learning: materials will be available on the IOL platform upon registration.

Beside the compulsory readings indicated above, attending students will be required to complete an assignment which will be carried out during lessons as well as on the online platform (IOL).

Teaching methods
Lecture, group discussion, team work and e-learning assignments.
Assessment methods
The final written exam will consist of a combination of close ended and open ended questions. The criteria used for correction and marking will be reported in the first page of the written examination. The final score will range from 0 to 30.
For attending students, the assignment completed during lessons and on the online platform (IOL) will be integral part of the final exam and its evaluation.
Teaching tools
Power-point presentations, materials distributed by the lecturer for facilitating group work and discussion during lessons. Two lessons will be carried out in e-learning (IOL platform).
