Learning outcomes
The course provides knowledge of the basic principles of pharmacology, with special attention to drugs of CNS, inflammation, pain, musculo-skeletal system
Course contents
Pharmacokinetics: absorption, distribution, metabolism and elimination of drugs
Main pharmacokinetic parameters: bioavailability, volume of distribution, AUC, Cmax, Tmax, clearance)
Pharmacodynamics: mechanisms of drug action, agonists, antagonists, relation between drug concentration and effect
Drug-drug interactions
Drug toxicityi: classification of adverse drug reactions and principles of post-marketing drug surveillance
General principles of drug use in pregnancy, paediatrics, geriatrics
Drugs acting on the central nervous system
Basics of hypnotics and sedatives, antipsychotics, antidepressants and antiepileptics
Opioid analgesics, Local anesthetics, Drugs for spasticity
Drug therapy of inflammation
Non steroidal antiiflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and paracetamol; Antiinflammatory corticosteroids
General principles of pain therapy

Antimicrobial chemotherapy
