Learning outcomes
The student must know the basics of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of the drugs, the main drug-drug interactions, the basis of the pharmacovigilance and of the clinical development of drugs and radiopharmaceuticals. Clinical use and the safety profiles as well as the correct methods of manipulation of contrast media and radiopharmaceuticals must be known.
Course contents
1. The clinical development of drugs.
2. European guidelines for the clinical development of contrast
media and radiopharmaceuticals.
3. Pharmacovigilance and adverse drug reactions.
4. Drug-drug interactions.
5. Classification, clinical uses, safety profiles and manipulation
of contrast media (CM) and radiopharmaceuticals.

Slides and lecture notes.
Teaching methods
The main aspects of the clinical development of drugs, with
particular reference to the European guidelines for the development
of radiopharmaceuticals and contrast media will be presented.
Also the topics pharmacovigilance and drug-drug interaction will be
handled.
The pharmacological class of contrast media and of
radiopharmaceuticals from the point of view of clinical uses,
tolerability and proper handling by the operators will be
presented.
All the topics will be accompanied by the news coming from the
scientific literature.
Assessment methods
The assessment of the knowledge gained by the student is based on the administration of a questionnaire consisting of 30 items, with true/false answer, relevant to the topics covered in class (6 questions for each topic).
