Learning outcomes

During the lessons, students acquire skills in the field of human geography, with particular focus on population and settlement. Also learn the tools to read the geographical and topographical maps of the past and of today.

Course contents

Human Geography as a way to interpret the globalization

 -Cultures and Methods of  Geography in historical perspective.

- Cartography and Travels: instruments for our understanding the space

-World Population and its trends in different countries . Gender and age relations; migrations. Demographic and cartographic indicators.

- Geography and culture: languages, religions, processes of globalization.

-Introduction to different aspect of human geography: economic geography, political geography, urban geography.

-Resources uses and Planet degradation : challenges for sustainability

- Exemples of geo-historical transformations in Emilia Romagna during the 20th.century.

Teaching methods

 Video projector will be used for  help the lessons with photos, maps and  geographical models

 

Assessment methods

Written examination will be organized, consisting in some open questions, tired from arguments discussed during the lecture or in texts indicated in the program.

It will assess the ability of the students to expose the general aspects of various themes, and the necessary examples.
