Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student has acquired the basic knowledge regarding health and the prevention of illness and is able to deal with any matters concerning hygiene in the work environment. He is acquainted with the problems and the relative laws relating to the disposal of waste in the laboratory. At the end of the learning module the student acquires the basic notions requested for the comprehension of the mechanisms of human pathology, with an accent on cellular and organ pathology, immunopathology and oncology. The course will offer insights into the mechanisms of public health.

Teaching methods
The course is divided into two didactic units (modules): the first (4 CFU) consists of lectures on Hygiene and the second (3 CFU) on General Pathology. The course is extensive: the lectures on Hygiene are held during the first semester and those on General Pathology in the second semester.
Assessment methods
The exam aims to verify the achievement of the following didactic objectives:
- understanding the determining factors for disease and health with the aim of safeguarding and promoting the health of workers and the hygienic safety of the finished product (drug or aliment)
- demonstrating to have acquired the basics for understanding the causes and mechaninisms of onset of human diseases
The final mark is a synthesis of the assessments for the two didactic modules that make up the course.
The assessment of students for the General Pathology unit involves a written test (open questions). The assessment for the Hygiene unit consists of an optional mid-term written test (multiple choice) and a compulsory final oral exam.
To take the final exam students must register using the Alma Esami, respecting the specified deadlines
