Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student has historical and critical
knowledge about the developments of visual arts and photography in
the XX century; he is able to analyse and interpret the strategy of
the world of the communication in which photography plays a central
role.
Course contents
The main purpose of the course is the student's mastery of a basic
knowledge in contemporary visual culture, in which photography
plays a central role. The lessons will start facing the
photographic origins in the social and artistic context from the
XIX century. Then the students will be helped to reflect upon
examples of the use and the performing identity
of photography in visual arts, fashion and advertising in
XX century.
Particularly, this course will be dedicated to the analysis of the
modern fashion icons.
