Learning outcomes

By the end of the course the student - KNOWS the main connections between migratory event and learning processes, in particular of second generation immigrant - KNOWS the multicultural family models with a particular attention to international adoption - UNDERSTANDS the development processes in children and adolescents of foreign origin and those internationally adopted - KNOWS issues related to multiculturalism and interculturality in contemporary debate – IS ABLE to apply techniques for the construction and evaluation of intercultural education in extracurricular contexts – UNDERSTANDS and CAN APPLY the categorization processes regarding stereotypes and prejudices in order to the overrun ethnic conflicts – UNDERSTANDS the historical dynamics, social and cultural rights leading to racist attitudes and behaviours.

Course contents

The course intends to offer elements of knowledge and reflection around the development of the following themes: cultural diversity and interculturality;

stereotypes, prejudices and learning processes;

racism: attitudes and behaviours;

Immigration and learning processes;

diversity, difference and optimisation of differences;

pedagogical models: assimilation, separation and integration;

intercultural education: construction and evaluation of paths in school contexts;

exceeding of ethnic conflicts.
