Learning outcomes
Acquiring the elementary notions to understand that a disease is the result of the timely combination of different factors: a susceptible host plant, a virulent pathogen, its vector (when present) and favorable environmental conditions. Learning also elementary notions of plant pathology such as: symptoms expression, etiology, epidemiology and diagnosis of grape diseases.
Course contents
General features of plant pathogens (fungi, bacteria, phytoplasmas and viruses). Diagnosis of plant diseases, plant defence mechanisms, plant disease epidemiology. Characteristics of main grape diseases caused by fungi, bacteria, phytoplasmas and viruses.

Teaching methods
Theoretical lessons and laboratory practice based on the use of several diagnostic methods for the identification of grape diseases.
